Whittlesey is a small market town situated on the edge of the Fens in the middle of a triangle between Peterborough, Wisbech and March. The  Team also includes the rural villages of Pondersbridge, Coates, Eastrea and Turves in an area expanding with new houses, both being built and in the planning stage.

Whittlesey town holds a small Friday market and a large Sunday market. There are two supermarkets, specialised family owned shops, restaurants and food outlets, two doctor surgeries, one community college, four primary schools and one leisure centre. There are six residential homes.

The four churches within the Team serve a population of about 18 000, many of whom commute to Peterborough which is only fifteen minutes away. The predominant occupations of the area are arable farming, light industry, haulage and brick manufacturing.

Both St Andrew’s and St Mary’s churches in Whittlesey town are medieval, dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries and both were restored during the 19th century. The spire of St Mary’s, a recognised landmark, can be seen for many miles across the Fens. St Thomas’, Pondersbridge and Holy Trinity, Coates are both Victorian churches and smaller in size than the town churches.

St Mary’s, St Andrew’s and Holy Trinity have a Friends’ organisation. The Team Ministry is in the Diocese of Ely and within the March Deanery.
